It is 36 kilometres from [[Puri]], and 18 kilometers from Bhubaneswar, at the junction where the [[Konark]] road branches from the Bhubaneswar to [[Puri]] road.

== Portuguese era ==
The Portuguese first arrived in 1514 settling in Pipli. The relations with the rulers of the Kingdom of Orissa were friendly. Settlers came and created a factory, and the Portuguese turned in the principal trading company, exporting Orissa products like rice, cotton and butter from Malaysia to Borneo, and bringing Chinese products and spices from Indonesia. Settlers and local population mixed for the next centuries creating a Portuguese Creole that was spoke until the beginning of the 20th century ([[Indo-Portuguese creole]]).

The [[Kidutopia]] Playschool/Preschool of Pipili is probably most well known for its world class environment and is managed by qualified engineer operating in Pipili bazaar and surrounding area. There is Govt college and Private science college along with various other training institutes for coaching. It's a compact and very pretty township with educated and aware citizens.

Current [[Member of the Legislative Assembly (India)|MLA]] from Pipli Assembly Constituency is [[Pradeep Maharathy]] of [[Biju Janata Dal|BJD]], who won 7 times from Pipili : 1985,1990,2000,2004,2009,2014,2019.
