&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039;Philip&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039; ({{lang-el|Φίλιππoς}}; died 325 BC), son of [[Machatas of Elimeia|Machatas]] and brother of [[Harpalus]], was an officer in the service of [[Alexander the Great]], who in 327 BC was appointed by Alexander as [[satrap]] of [[History of India|India]], including the provinces westward of the [[Hydaspes|Hydaspes (Jhelum river)]], as far south as the junction of the [[Indus River|Indus]] with the [[Chenab River|Acesines (Chenab river)]].{{r|arr_5.8}} After the conquest of the [[Malwa|Malli (Malwa)]] and Oxydracae, these tribes also were added to his government.{{r|arr_6.14}}&lt;br /&gt;

After the departure of Alexander from India, Philip was assassinated in 325 BC by a conspiracy formed among the mercenary troops under his command.{{sfn|Mookerji|1988|p=30}}{{r|arr_6.27_curt_10.1}} Alexander named [[Eudamus]] and [[Taxiles]] as rulers of his territories in replacement:&lt;br /&gt;
