&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039;Pasenadi&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039; ({{lang-sa|Prasenajit}}) (c. 6th century BCE) was an [[Ikshvaku dynasty|{{IAST|Aikṣvāka}} dynasty]] ruler of [[Kosala]]. [[Shravasti|Sāvatthī]] was his capital. He succeeded after {{IAST|Sanjaya Mahākosala}}.&amp;lt;ref&amp;gt;Raychaudhuri H. (1972). &amp;#039;&amp;#039;Political History of Ancient India&amp;#039;&amp;#039;, Calcutta: University of Calcutta, pp.90,176&amp;lt;/ref&amp;gt; He was a prominent {{IAST|Upāsaka}} (lay follower) of [[Gautama Buddha]], and built many Buddhist monasteries for the Buddha.&lt;br /&gt;

Pasenadi studied in [[Taxila]] in his early life. He was the king of [[Kosala]] (modern Oudh or [[Awadh]]).{{sfn|Sastri|1988|p=17}} His first queen was a Magadhan princess.  His second queen was {{IAST|Vāsavakhattiyā}}, daughter of {{IAST|Mahānāma}}, a {{IAST|Sākya}} by a slave girl {{IAST|Nāgamundā}}. Though she was a slave girl not the original daughter of Mahanama{{explain|date=September 2020}}. From this marriage, he had  a son, [[Virudhaka|Viḍūḍabha]] and a daughter [[Princess Vajira]], whom he married to [[Ajatashatru|Ajātaśatru]] (Pāli: &amp;#039;&amp;#039;Ajātasattu&amp;#039;&amp;#039;).{{sfn|Sastri|1988|p=17}} His third and chief queen was Mallika, daughter of the chief of garland-makers. Once, while he was away from his capital [[Śrāvastī|Shravasti]], his minister {{IAST|Dīgha Chārāyana}} placed his son {{IAST|Viḍūḍabha}} on the throne. He went to Magadha to seek help from Ajātaśatru in order to regain his throne. But before being able to meet him, Pasenadi died of exposure outside the gates of [[Rajgir|Rājagṛha]] (Pāli: Rājagaha).&amp;lt;ref&amp;gt;Raychaudhuri H.
