The [[Pakistan cricket team]] toured India in November [[International cricket in 2007–08|2007]] and played five [[One Day International|ODIs]] and three [[Test cricket|Test match]]es between 6 November and 12 December. India won the ODI series [[Pakistani cricket team in India in 1983–84|after 24 years]] by 3–2 margin,<ref>{{cite news|title=India seal Pakistan series after easy win|url=http://www.rediff.com/cricket/report/india/20071115.htm|access-date=27 January 2018|work=Rediff.com|date=15 November 2007}}</ref> while the Test series was won by a 1–0 margin.Till date,this is the last bilateral series involving test cricket between these two nations.

==Background==
The tour schedule was released in mid June 2007. It was announced that the Pakistan squad would arrive on 2 November and would play five ODIs followed by three Tests, the tour that would follow [[Australian cricket team in India in 2007|Australia's India tour]] for seven ODIs.<ref>{{cite news|title=Australia and Pakistan face packed schedule in India|url=http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci/content/story/297811.html|access-date=27 January 2018|work=ESPN Cricinfo|date=12 June 2007}}</ref> In mid October 2007, the first three ODIs were rescheduled in that it was announced that they would be played a day each in advance, in order to accommodate the third ODI on a Sunday.<ref>{{cite news|title=Change in Pakistan's tour itinerary|url=http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci/content/story/315268.html|access-date=27 January 2018|work=ESPN Cricinfo|date=13 October 2007}}</ref>

This was the fourth tour combined between the two countries in as many years. Pakistan came to India on the back of a superior record against the Indian side in both Tests and ODIs. Issam Ahmed of ''[[The Daily Telegraph|the Telegraph]]'' felt that on the backdrop of the [[Pakistani state of emergency, 2007|declaration of emergency in Pakistan]] and the Pakistan team's "disappointing" performance [[South African cricket team in Pakistan in 2007–08|at home against South Africa]], "enthusiasm on the street seems pretty hard to come by".<ref name="Teleg"/> The same state was echoed in India by ''[[The Hindu]]'' which dubbed this Pakistan team the "weakest ... to tour India" while adding that despite the "number of young players with proven ability [it] lacks names that inspire awe".
