At the age of 15, Banerjee represented Bihar in [[Santosh Trophy]], playing in the right wing. In 1954 he moved on to Kolkata and joined [[Aryan F.C.|Aryan]]. Later he moved on to represent [[Eastern Railway F.C.|Eastern Railway]].&lt;br /&gt;

P. K. Banerjee&amp;#039;s first managerial stint came with [[SC East Bengal|East Bengal]], joining the club as manager in 1972.
