Roopa Radhakrishnan of ''[[The Times of India]]'' gave 1.5/5 stars and wrote "''Otha Votu Muthaiya'' isn't a film where you have to fish for answers or expect a logical flow in what's happening. With that said, to the film's credit, it also doesn't pretend to be anything more than that."<ref>{{Cite news |title=Otha Votu Muthaiya Movie Review : A tiresome movie with outdated storytelling and ludicrous characters |url=https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/entertainment/tamil/movie-reviews/otha-votu-muthaiya/movie-review/118247455.cms |access-date=2025-02-15 |work=The Times of India |issn=0971-8257}}</ref> ''[[Dinamalar]]'' rated 2.25 out of 5.<ref>{{Cite web |title=ஒத்த ஓட்டு முத்தையா - விமர்சனம் {2.25/5} : ஒத்த ஓட்டு முத்தையா - டெபாசிட் இல்லை - Otha votu muthaiya |url=https://cinema.dinamalar.com/movie-review/3538/Otha-votu-muthaiya/ |access-date=2025-02-17 |website=cinema.dinamalar.com |language=en}}</ref>
