Ibrahim Ahmed died after being shot with a gun belonging to Chowdhury in August 2010. Chowdhury's driver Kala filed an unnatural death case with the police and claimed Ibrahim accidentally shot himself while handling the gun in the MP's car.<ref name="ds12Jan2012">{{cite news |title=MP Shaon not charged |url=https://www.thedailystar.net/news-detail-218028 |access-date=5 November 2018 |work=The Daily Star |date=12 January 2012 |language=en}}</ref> The [[Detective Branch (Bangladesh)|Detective Branch]] of the police suspected foul play.
