The squadron was re-equipped in 1954, with [[Consolidated B-24 Liberator|B-24 Liberators]]. Its role was also changed to heavy bombing. In 1957, the squadron received [[English Electric Canberra]]s, and was moved to [[Kalaikunda]]. In October–December 1986, the squadron was re-equipped with [[SEPECAT Jaguar]]s, which are deep penetration strike aircraft. The squadron entered battle for the first time during the [[1961 Indian annexation of Goa|annexation of Goa]], where it flew bombing raids against [[Dabolim Airport|Dabolim Airfield]]. The squadron also flew a few raids in Diu.
