Purulia district forms the lowest step of the [[Chota Nagpur Plateau]]. According to the [[2011 Census of India]] Nituria had a total population of 1,144 of which 580 (51%) were males and 564 (49%) were females. There were 149 persons in the age range of 0–6 years.
