Nina hails from [[Bangalore|Bengaluru]], [[Karnataka]]. She started swimming at the a young age of four. Her elder sister started swimming training and her mother Ashwini Shivakumar sent the younger sibling too. She is also encouraged by her father Prabhu Venkatesh.
