When [[Ghiyasuddin Iwaj Shah|Ghiyasuddin Iwaj Khalji]] rebelled against [[Shamsuddin Iltutmish|Delhi Sultan Iltutmish]], he sent his son Nasiruddin Mahmud along with [[Alauddin Jani]] to lead an invasion against Iwaj.<ref name=bpedia>{{cite book |last=Ahmed |first=ABM Shamsuddin |year=2012 |chapter=Iltutmish |chapter-url=http://en.banglapedia.org/index.php?title=Iltutmish |editor1-last=Islam |editor1-first=Sirajul |editor1-link=Sirajul Islam |editor2-last=Jamal |editor2-first=Ahmed A. |title=Banglapedia: National Encyclopedia of Bangladesh |edition=Second |publisher=[[Asiatic Society of Bangladesh]]}}</ref> Iwaj was defeated and killed, and Nasiruddin became the governor of [[Bengal]].
