Mushtaq Solanki joined the [[Samajwadi Party]] in 1993. After that, in the year 1996, he was elected a member of the [[Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly]] from the [[Arya Nagar Assembly constituency|Arya Nagar Assembly]].
