Munir Ahmed Niazi was born on 9 April 1923, in Khanpur, one of the Pathan villages in [[Hoshiarpur]] [[Punjab Province (British India)|Punjab]], [[British India]].<ref name=Dawn1/> He was initially educated at Khanpur.
