In 1887, Ruswa began his literary career with a poetry adaption of &amp;#039;&amp;#039;[[Laila and Majnoon|Laila-Majnu]]&amp;#039;&amp;#039;. During the early 1900s, Ruswa released &amp;#039;&amp;#039;[[Afshai Raz]]&amp;#039;&amp;#039; and &amp;#039;&amp;#039;[[Umrao Jan Ada]]&amp;#039;&amp;#039;. Following &amp;#039;&amp;#039;[[Zat-e-Shareef]]&amp;#039;&amp;#039; and &amp;#039;&amp;#039;[[Shareef Zada]]&amp;#039;&amp;#039;, Ruswa also released &amp;#039;&amp;#039;[[Akhtari Begum]]&amp;#039;&amp;#039;.
