Goa's Michel Castanha is from Curtorim and began her career at the age of eight playing for a Bodyline Club from Maharashtra. Her father, a former football player, reluctantly agreed to her taking up the game when coach Maria Rebelo convinced him.<br />

Michel Castanha made her debut in the Under-17 Nationals at the age of 12 in Chandigarh in 2005. Then, there were only two junior age group Nationals, U-17 and U-19 before the Senior cap.<br />

She represented India at the AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers 2018 in South Korea.<br />
