[[MEMU]] express special trains are operated between [[Coimbatore Junction railway station|Coimbatore Junction]] and Mettupalayam daily. [[Coimbatore]] is 35 km by road from Mettupalayam, and the nearest airport is [[Coimbatore International Airport]]. There is a proposal for a bypass road from [[Sulur]] ([[Kangayampalayam]]) via [[Neelambur]] for Mettupalayam via [[Odanthurai, Tamil Nadu|Odanthurai]] to Ooty.
