It is located {{convert|35|km}} from sub district headquarter, {{convert|45|km}} from district headquarter and {{convert|5|km}} from [[Sri Hargobindpur]]. The village is [[Administration (government)|administrated]] by [[Sarpanch]] an elected representative of the village.&lt;br /&gt;

Mari Buchian is one of the isolated village. But it is growing rapidly from the last 5 years. Village have an angand-wari school, a primary school, and a senior secondary school. Village also have a playground and dispensary. One can buy variety of things in the village. In addition to it, many online shopping sites deliver products in the village .&lt;br /&gt;

The terrain of the village is not regular due to its closeness to river Beas. There is one water canal for irrigation of crops in the front of the village and river Beas at the back. Soil of the village is very fertile. Wheat, rice, and sugarcane are the major crops grown here.&lt;br /&gt;

== Impact of 1947 partition ==&lt;br /&gt;
Before the partition of India, village was dominated by muslim population. Due to partition, they moved to Pakistan. Some old structures related to muslim community can be seen in the village. Partition divided the India into two countries but was not able to divide the hearts of people. People who shifted to Pakistan still try to connect to the village.  &lt;br /&gt;
