MITE is on the Mangalore - Solapur Highway, about 30 km from Mangalore and about 4 km short of the town of [[Moodabidri]]. The institute is affiliated to the [[Visvesvaraya Technological University]], Belgaum and approved by the All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi. Aeronautical Engineering, Computer science Engineering, Civil Engineering and Mechanical Engineering departments are NBA accredited.

MITE has a fully computerized library, centrally air-conditioned library with rich collections of books and periodicals. These include ~5000 Titles, 26,000+ Volumes; there is also National and International Journals that includes Engineering and Management. As reference material for students and staff members, each book and journal has been chosen with utmost care to ensure that it will equip the reader with the most advanced information in the field of Science, Technology and Management.
