In [[Carnatic music]], &amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039;Maddala Keli&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039; or &amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039;Maddalapattu&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039; is a musical genre featuring a set of &amp;#039;&amp;#039;[[maddalam]]&amp;#039;&amp;#039; drums as the main instrument &amp;amp;ndash; not &amp;#039;&amp;#039;[[chenda]]&amp;#039;&amp;#039; drums &amp;amp;ndash; with support from a row of &amp;#039;&amp;#039;[[ilathalam]]&amp;#039;&amp;#039;. A Maddala Keli work with five &amp;#039;&amp;#039;maddalam&amp;#039;&amp;#039; players is called &amp;#039;&amp;#039;Panchamaddalakeli&amp;#039;&amp;#039;; with ten players,  &amp;#039;&amp;#039;Dashamaddalakeli&amp;#039;&amp;#039;. It sticks mainly to an eight-beat rhythmic cycle called &amp;#039;&amp;#039;Chembada&amp;#039;&amp;#039; or &amp;#039;&amp;#039;adi talam&amp;#039;&amp;#039;. It also has a segment called &amp;#039;&amp;#039;Kooru&amp;#039;&amp;#039;, where rhythmic cycles can be the six-beat &amp;#039;&amp;#039;panchari&amp;#039;&amp;#039; (&amp;#039;&amp;#039;pancharikkooru&amp;#039;&amp;#039;), the 14-beat &amp;#039;&amp;#039;adantha&amp;#039;&amp;#039; (&amp;#039;&amp;#039;adantha-kkooru&amp;#039;&amp;#039;) and the ten-beat &amp;#039;&amp;#039;chamba&amp;#039;&amp;#039; (&amp;#039;&amp;#039;chambakkooru&amp;#039;&amp;#039;). Scholars{{who|date=April 2017}} say the ensemble of [[thayambaka]] was developed from maddala keli.&lt;br /&gt;
