Thereafter he joined Bank of Credit & Commerce International (BCCI) in Hong Kong in July 1987 as Trainee officer. After BCCI was shutdown globally in July 1991, Rahman changed career and joined Hong Kong's largest multinational conglomerates Hutchison Whampoa's international mobile telecommunication division, Hutchison Telecom Ltd. as Business Development Manager, Southasia. In October 1992 HTL was shut down by the parent company and Rahman returned back to Bangladesh with his family in December 1992. Thereafter he engineered the sale of Hutchison Telecoms Bangladesh operations to his uncle and became its General Manager , Operations in September 1993 . He left Hutchison Bangladesh in April 1994 and started his own trading business. In January 1996 he set-up a woven label manufacturing plant for the export-oriented garments industries. In 2004 he set-up a Yarn Dyeing plant. In October 2013 after selling off his other two industrial ventures, he set-up Bangladesh's first five standard Resort hotel in Maulvibazaar, Sylhet.

			The 9 years conviction on extortion charge was dismissed by the High Court in May 2009 as being a false allegation while the 13 years conviction on anti-corruption charges was suspended by the High Court in August 2010 having being charged without any valid grounds. Therefore Nasser Rahman is not a convicted person in the eyes of law since August 2010.
