== Background ==
Kumar was born in [[Mamidala]], [[Nalgonda district]], [[Telangana]]. He did his Masters and PhD in Electrical Engineering from [[Indian Institute of Technology Madras|Indian Institute of Technology, Madras]].followed by post doctoral research at [[University of Waterloo]], [[Canada]].<ref name=":0" /><ref>{{Cite web|url=http://www.cense.iisc.ac.in/icee/docs/Plenary_Speakers/Jagadesh.pdf|title=Prof. M.
