It is located {{convert|8.6|km}} away from postal head office Dosanjh Kalan, {{convert|27|km}} from [[Nawanshahr]], {{convert|18.7|km}} from district headquarter Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar and {{convert|120|km}} from state capital [[Chandigarh]]. As of 2011, Lidhar Kalan has a total number of 223 houses and population of 976 of which 497 include are males while 479 are females according to the report published by [[2011 Census of India|Census India in 2011]]. The [[Literacy|literacy rate]] of Lidhar Kalan is 81.05%, higher than the state average of 75.84%. The population of children under the age of 6 years is 79 which is 8.9% of total population of Lidhar Kalan, and [[child sex ratio]] is approximately 927 as compared to Punjab state average of 846.<ref name=census /><ref>{{cite web|url=http://pib.nic.in/newsite/PrintRelease.aspx?relid=103437|title=Child Sex Ratio in India (2001-2011)|work=pib.nic.in}}</ref>

Most of the people are from [[Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes|Schedule Caste]] which constitutes 54.30% of total population in Lidhar Kalan. The town does not have any [[Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes|Schedule Tribe]] population so far.<ref name=census />
