	On April 15, 1958, the then Union Home Minister [[Govind Ballabh Pant\|Pandit Govind Ballabh Pant]] announced in the Lok Sabha, that the Government would set up a National Academy of Administration, where training would be given to all the recruits of the Civil Services. The Ministry of Home Affairs also decided to amalgamate the IAS Training School, [[Delhi]] and the IAS Staff College, [[Shimla]] to form a National Academy of Administration to be set up in ~~Mussoorie’s Charleville Estate~~. The training of first batch of officers has started in metcalf house(delhi ) in 13 april1959 (115officers) .In september 1959 the academy shifted to charleville hotel,mussoorie.the charleville hotel in which the academy started in mussoorie was the first hotel to be built in this hill station.it was purchased by govt.from private hands.the main building of this hotel was built in 1854 by general wilkinson.it was purchased by mr.hobson( a retired manager of mussorrie bank) in 1861.in 1984 a huge fire destroy the main hotel building. In 1905 queen mary of uk(who was then titled the princess of wales) had stayed in this hotel. Famous writer rudyard kipling stayed here in 1888.inception to 31 october 1970 academy function under home ministry.till april 1977 it function under cabinet secretarit affair ministry.april1977 till march 1985 again work under home ministry .from april 1985 till date work under personnel,public grivances and pension ministry.
			1988 NICTU established.1989 national societ for promotion of development administartion resarch and training (NSDART) ESTABLISHED.now it known as national institute of administration resarch.
