It is believed that this village was earlier a town named ''Khandel'' but was deserted after some time. When it was inhabited again, it was again named as Khanda. An old temple of [[Hindu gods|Hindu god]] [[Parashurama|Parshuram]] is located at the corner of the village.<ref name=temple>{{cite web|title=Khanda|url=http://www.gloriousindia.com/unleashed/place.php?id=68901|publisher=Glorious India|accessdate=8 July 2012}}</ref> A new temple has been built on a large platform located inside the pond near the old temple.
