According to legends the Kattakampal temple is considered as 2000 years old. Temple is famous for the annual Pooram celebrations ('''Kattakampal Pooram'''). The ten days festival finishes on Pooram day (Pooram asterism) in the Malayalam month of Medam (April / May).
