[[File:Snow clad himalayas as seen from kathua.jpg|thumb|left|Kaplas massif and nearby mountains, as visible from Kathua town]]
The mountain forms part of the Kaplas Granite Massif, a prominent intrusive body in the northwestern Himalaya. Geological studies describe the granite as coarse-grained, porphyritic and highly jointed, extending across parts of Bhaderwah and Doda.<ref>{{cite web |last1=Bhardwaj |first1=Ashish |title=Field and Petrographic characteristics of the Bhalla and Doda granitic bodies associated with Kaplas granite in Doda district of J&K, India |url=https://gdckathua.in/pdf/61836Label.pdf |website=gdckathua.in |publisher=Government Degree College Kathua |access-date=3 October 2025}}</ref> It is associated with the nearby Bhalla and Doda granitic bodies and has been examined for its petrographic and geochemical characteristics.<ref>{{cite journal|last1=Singh |first1=R. |last2=Fotedar |first2=B.
