On 10 March 2016, Kumar was manhandled and abused on the JNU campus by a man who accused him of being a &amp;#039;&amp;#039;deshdrohi&amp;#039;&amp;#039; ({{Translation|traitor}}). This incident came two days after Kumar made a speech on [[International Women&amp;#039;s Day|International Women’s Day]], during which he accused Security personnel for raping woman in Kashmir.
