The author took inspiration for this play from the ''Uttara Kanda'' of [[Valmiki]]'s ''[[Ramayana]]''. The play is the first of Sreekantan Nair's dramatic trilogy based on the ''Ramayana'', the other two are ''Saketham'' and ''Lankalakshmi''. <br />
