Kaak was born 16 March 1940, at village Pura, [[Unnao]], [[Uttar Pradesh]], the son of a freedom fighter. He trained to work as a mechanical engineer, but gave up the field to pursue cartooning. His first cartoon was published in &amp;#039;&amp;#039;[[Dainik Jagran]]&amp;#039;&amp;#039; in 1967. He has worked as an editorial cartoonist with &amp;#039;&amp;#039;[[Jansatta]]&amp;#039;&amp;#039; ([[Indian Express]] group) from 1983 to 1985 and with &amp;#039;&amp;#039;[[Navbharat Times]]&amp;#039;&amp;#039; ([[Times of India]] group) from July 1985 to Jan 1999. He has also been published in &amp;#039;&amp;#039;Dinman&amp;#039;&amp;#039;, &amp;#039;&amp;#039;[[Shankar&amp;#039;s Weekly]]&amp;#039;&amp;#039;, &amp;#039;&amp;#039;Current&amp;#039;&amp;#039;, &amp;#039;&amp;#039;[[Blitz (newspaper)|Blitz]]&amp;#039;&amp;#039;, &amp;#039;&amp;#039;Ravivar&amp;#039;&amp;#039;, &amp;#039;&amp;#039;Itwari Patrika&amp;#039;&amp;#039;, &amp;#039;&amp;#039;[[Dharamyug]]&amp;#039;&amp;#039;, and &amp;#039;&amp;#039;Saptahik Hindustan&amp;#039;&amp;#039;.
