The ''Journal of the Henry Martyn Institute'' traces its beginnings to the year 1911,<ref name="Bloomsbury"/> when it appeared as ''News and Notes''.<ref name="Bloomsbury"/> Subsequently, in the year 1941,<ref name="JWS"/> it became known as ''The Bulletin of Christian Institutes of Islamic Studies'' and by 1960,<ref name="Kalimatullah"/> the title was once again changed to ''Bulletin of the Henry Martyn Institute of Islamic Studies''. Then in the year 1972, it was changed to ''Al-Basheer: A Bulletin of Christian Institutes of Islamic Studies'', which retained the title until 1976.<ref name="Kalimatullah"/> Again from the year 1978<ref name="Kalimatullah"/><ref name="WC"/> onwards, it reverted its title to ''Bulletin of the Henry Martyn Institute of Islamic Studies''.<ref name="Dharma"/><ref name="HMI Bulletin">''The Bulletin of the Henry Martyn Institute of Islamic Studies'', Hathitrust.[https://catalog.hathitrust.org/Search/Home?lookfor=%22Bulletin%20of%20the%20Henry%20Martyn%20Institute%20of%20Islamic%20Studies%20(Hyderabad,%20India)%22&type=title&inst=]</ref> Finally, since 1998,<ref name="Vol17"/> it took the name as ''Journal of the Henry Martyn Institute'', which stands good till date.
