As of 2011, Jhander Kalan has a total number of 184 houses and population of 846 of which 432 include are males while 414 are females according to the report published by [[2011 Census of India|Census India in 2011]]. The [[Literacy|literacy rate]] of Jhander Kalan is 85.49%, higher than the state average of 75.84%. The population of children under the age of 6 years is 74 which is 8.75% of total population of Jhander Kalan, and [[child sex ratio]] is approximately 1114 as compared to Punjab state average of 846.<ref name=census /><ref>{{cite web|url=http://pib.nic.in/newsite/PrintRelease.aspx?relid=103437|title=Child Sex Ratio in India (2001-2011)|work=pib.nic.in}}</ref>
