== Early life and education ==
Javad Hassan was born in [[Aluva|Alwaye]] (now Aluva) to a [[Pathanamthitta]] agriculturalist, Assanar Nagoor Rawther. He is also the grandson of prominent industrialist and philanthropist, [[M. K. Mackar Pillay]].

Hassan completed his bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the [[University of Kerala]],<ref name=":3" /> and thereafter immigrated to the [[United States]] with his wife. Javad Hassan's mother, M. M. Khadijoo, was a member of Aluva's prominent Manadath family, and his grandfather, M. K.
