Jatasimhanandi was the author of several ''[[kāvya]]'' poetic works, including the adventure narrative of [[Varangacharita]].<ref name="singh2001"/> Although it has not conclusively been established, he may have been stylistically influenced by [[Aśvaghoṣa]].<ref name="warder1994"/>
