Park was approximately 22 years old, and a gunner in the [[Bengal Artillery]], [[Bengal Army]] during the [[Indian Mutiny]] when the following deeds took place at the [[Relief of Lucknow]] for which he was awarded the [[Victoria Cross|VC]]:<br />
