== Early life and education ==
Indumathi D. grew up in Chennai.<ref name=":0" /> Her father was a mechanical engineer, whose work inspired curiosity in her at a young age.<ref name=":0" />  Indumathi did her masters in Physics from the Madras Christian College, Chennai.<ref name=":2">{{Cite web|title=Department of Physics {{!}} Indian Institute Of Technology Madras, Chennai|url=https://physics.iitm.ac.in/event/view/397|access-date=2020-07-20|website=physics.iitm.ac.in}}</ref> Even though she was more passionate about playing Cricket, an injury led her to pursue a career in Physics.<ref name=":0" /><ref name=":1" />

Indumathi D. obtained her [[Doctor of Philosophy|PhD]] from IMSc in particle physics,<ref name=":2" /> where she worked on the spin structure of the photon.<ref name=":2" /> Her doctoral advisor was M.V.N. Murthy. As a student, she also wrote a paper on the supernova event [[SN 1987A|SN1987A]].<ref name=":2" /><ref>{{Cite journal|last1=DASS|first1=N. D. == Research ==
