==Development and production==
In 1984, Mexican television writer Miguel Sabido, who had written the popular Mexican telenovela on [[educational entertainment]], ''[[Ven conmigo (telenovela)|Ven conmigo]]'' (Come with Me, 1975) on adult literacy, was invited to India.
