Mann studied for a master's degree in English from [[Baring Union Christian College]] in [[Batala]], Punjab, from 1965 to 1971, and then completed a diploma in English Studies at the [[English and Foreign Languages University|Central Institute of English and Foreign Languages]] in Hyderabad, India, in 1975.
