The press was established in late 1948 by the Ministry of Rehabilitation in the rehabilitation colony at Nilokheri in 1948 as one of several enterprises intended to provide employment and training for [[displaced person]]s following the [[partition of India]]. In 1972, a top secret wing was added and secret printing jobs for various ministries and government offices were added to the work of the press.<br />
