She was a Telugu princess. At the beginning of &amp;#039;&amp;#039;Madhura Vijayam&amp;#039;&amp;#039;, Gangadevi eulogizes several Sanskrit poets of the [[Telugu language|Telugu]]-speaking region, and particularly admires Tikkaya (identified with [[Tikkana]], the author of &amp;#039;&amp;#039;[[Andhra Mahabharatam]]&amp;#039;&amp;#039;).
