Blane was educated at [[Charterhouse School]], and in 1804 (aged 13 years) he joined the [[Royal Military College, Sandhurst|Royal Military College, Marlow]] as a cadet of the [[East India Company]].<ref name="Blane"/>

== Western Yamuna Canal ==
