After getting a masters degree from [[University of Kashmir|Kashmir University]], he made his way to [[Mumbai]] to attend an Introductory coaching course and qualified in it<ref>{{Cite web|url=https://wifa.in/due-to-football-they-players-will-be-away-from-the-bad-things-muzammil-mahmood/|title=Muzamil Mahmood Interview with WIFA media|date=March 23, 2015}}</ref>.
