Moinak Dutta was born on 11th of July 1987, into a [[Bengalis|Bengali]] family from [[Kolkata]] where his father Mr. Milan Kanti Dutta ([[deceased]]) used to work for a [[multi-national]] [[Fast-moving consumer goods|FMCG]] company. His mother Mrs. Aloka Dutta ([[deceased]]) was a [[Housewife|home maker]].

Growing up in Kolkata, Moinak completed his schooling from [[The Future Foundation School, Kolkata|The Future Foundation School]], from where he passed his [[Indian Certificate of Secondary Education|ICSE]] (2003) and [[Indian School Certificate|ISC]] (2005). Following that, Moinak pursued his Bachelor's degree from the [[University of Calcutta]], where he chose [[Journalism & Mass Communication Quarterly|Journalism and Mass Communication]] as his Major. Though he had a liking for performing arts, it is in his college years that he thought of giving it a try as a profession.

In college, Moinak got an option to participate in a few Bengali reality shows. While participating in one of the reality shows, he got introduced to Don Manuel, who inspired Moinak to take up public speaking and anchoring. After spending some time learning the craft, Moinak started to work as an [[Emcee N.I.C.E.|EMCEE]], host and anchor for various event management companies and corporate clients in Kolkata. This gave him more exposure to the Bengali television and media industry in Kolkata.
