&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039;Dianthus alpinus&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039;, the &amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039;alpine pink&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039;, is a [[species]] of [[flowering plant]] in the [[family (botany)|family]] Caryophyllaceae, [[endemism|endemic]] to the [[Alps]] of Eastern [[Austria]].&amp;lt;ref&amp;gt;[[#refGWBlam|Grey-Wilson &amp;amp; Blamey (1979)]]&amp;lt;/ref&amp;gt; It is a short (2–10&amp;amp;nbsp;cm high) mat-forming [[herbaceous]] [[perennial plant|perennial]], with linear to lanceolate leaves, 15–25&amp;amp;nbsp;mm long and 2–5&amp;amp;nbsp;mm wide.&amp;lt;ref&amp;gt;[[#Tutin1993|Tutin &amp;amp; Walters (1993), p. 239]]&amp;lt;/ref&amp;gt; The flowers are a deep cerise pink with white spots,&amp;lt;ref name = RHSPF/&amp;gt; appearing from June to August.&lt;br /&gt;

A [[calcicole]], the species is found in the north-eastern limestone Alps of Austria from the [[Totes Gebirge]] in the west to [[Semmering, Austria|Semmering]] and the [[Schneeberg (Alps)|Schneeberg]] in the east.&lt;br /&gt;
