Ering was born in an [[Adi people|Adi]] family in Runne village near [[Pasighat]] in 1929. He started his career in the [[Civil Services of India|Indian Frontier Administrative Service]]. Later, in 1963, he was nominated as a Member of the [[Lok Sabha]] from [[North-East Frontier Agency|NEFA]] by the President of India.
