When Broacha was 12, he acted in his first Hindi film, ''[[Jalwa]]'', with [[Pankaj Parashar]], starring alongside [[Naseeruddin Shah]]. The next year, he did his first professional play, ''Brighton Beach Memoirs'', under [[Pearl Padamsee]].
