The French-flagged ship ''Harmonie'', on a voyage from the Île Bourbon (now [[Réunion]]) to [[Pondicherry]], was wrecked at Coringa in October 1834. ==Cyclones==
In 1789, a cyclone hit Coringa. On 25 November 1839, [[1839 Coringa cyclone|another cyclone]] struck east India with strong winds and a large storm surge. Once again Coringa suffered great damage.
