Woakes made his Test match debut against [[Australia national cricket team|Australia]] in the final Test of the 2013 Ashes series, taking 1/96 in the first innings. After being named in squads against Sri Lanka and India, Woakes played his first Test of the 2014 summer in the third Test against India.
