'''Bharatpedia Adopt-a-user''' is a mentorship program designed to pair experienced editors with new or inexperienced users to help them learn the ropes of editing, policy, and community guidelines on Bharatpedia.
</div>

== Overview ==
The Adopt-a-user program aims to improve editor retention and article quality by providing personalized guidance to newcomers. Experienced editors ("Adopters") volunteer to mentor newer contributors ("Adoptees"), helping them navigate Wikitext formatting, copyright guidelines, sourcing, and project policies.

Participation in this program is completely voluntary for both mentors and adoptees.

== How it works ==

=== For new editors (Adoptees) ===
If you are new to Bharatpedia or want hands-on help improving your editing skills:
# Check the list of available mentors below or post a request on this page's talk page.
# Contact an active mentor on their talk page asking if they are available to adopt you.
# Once accepted, your mentor will guide you through editing tasks, answer your questions, and review your edits.

=== For experienced editors (Adopters) ===
If you are an experienced editor familiar with Bharatpedia guidelines and wish to mentor others:
# Add your name to the '''Active Mentors''' list below along with your areas of expertise (e.g., Wikitext formatting, copyright, template design, or history articles).
# Monitor requests from new users on your talk page.
# Help your adoptee build confidence by providing constructive feedback and advice.

== Guidelines ==

* '''Respect and patience:''' Mentors should maintain a patient and encouraging tone. Adoptees should be willing to learn and accept constructive feedback.
* '''Scope of mentorship:''' Mentorship covers editing techniques, Wikitext, understanding guidelines, and resolving minor issues. It does not mean mentors will do the work for you or defend policy violations.
* '''Ending adoption:''' Either party can end the adoption relationship at any time if they feel it is no longer necessary or active.

== How to participate ==

=== Requesting adoption ===
To request a mentor, you can place the following tag on your user page:
* <code><nowiki>{{adoptee}}</nowiki></code>

Or leave a message on the [[Bharatpedia talk:Adopt-a-user|talk page of this program]].

=== Volunteer as a mentor ===
To list yourself as an active mentor, add your username below:
