She was a resident of [[Nidubrolu]]. Her early education took place at Sarada Niketan in [[Guntur]]. During the [[Civil Disobedience Movement]] in 1932, she organized women [[Satyagraha|Satyagrahis]] in [[Guntur]], [[West Godavari district|West Godavari]], and [[Krishna district]], playing a prominent role in organizing women volunteers. She was sentenced to one year in prison and fined 500 rupees on 2 February 1931, for her involvement in the [[Indian independence movement|freedom movement]].
