== Design Issues ==

* Expressways currently being constructed in the India are 8-lane with land acquired for future expansion to 12-lane. Land for 4-lane is allocated in the middle of the expressway for future expansion. Delhi-Mumbai Expressways, Bangalore Peripheral Ring road, Chennai-Salem Expressways are designed to be 12-lane, with 8-lane initial construction.
* Many of the advantages initially proposed had been lost as Expressway will be 4-lane, where as existing National Highways in those stretch are already 6-lane.
* A direct route between Venkatagirikota and Ranipet would have reduced the distance of the Expressways by 60 km and travel time by 45 minutes. It would have saved lakhs of liters of imported vehicle fuel for India. But, officials did not make effort to get permission for Expressway to go through Eastern Ghats. All of the Greenfield Expressways go through shortest path for reducing construction cost and save the fuels for the country.
